Afternoon Agenda: 4/4/2023 Vail Town Council

  • Residences at Main Vail Update: (Memo)

    Refining Timber Ridge residents discounted rates for relocation to 2bd/1ba units at Residences at Main Vail. Starting off at 1:1 current match at $1800 for year 1 - increasing 7% annual for years 2 & 3. Market Rate at Year 4 at $2,344.

    Reservations for businesses open. Lottery for individuals to be established.

  • Draft Electric Vehicle Readiness Plan: (Memo, Plan, Deck)

    The GoEV City Resolution is a pledge for municipalities to develop an electric vehicle action plan to transition local transportation to zero emission vehicles. Several other towns & cities have used the policy framework to create their own plans as part of the pledge. Read Vail’s draft plan.

    To refine the potential spaces and programing staff is recommending

    • forming a a stakeholder committee made up of diverse members of the community.

  • Citizen Participation: a.k.a open mic night - PREACH

  • Building and Fire Code Appeals Board (BFCAB) Appointments:

    Colorado’s Land Use Bill (SB23-213) is a hot topic. The proposed state legislation seeks to remove local barriers to developing housing at densities greater than single family homes in an effort to decrease housing scarcity and lower housing costs. Public input is scheduled for Thursday April 6th in front of the Senate Local Government and Housing Committee - which includes our very own Senator Dylan Roberts. It’s a quickly evolving conversation.

How to Participate & Comment at Vail Town Council Meetings:

The first 10 minutes of every Evening Vail Town Council starting at 6pm is Citizen Participation (a.k.a Open mic night).  You get 3 minutes to preach to a captive audience of your leaders – in person or over Zoom.  This is the most powerful and underutilized channel of government engagement in Vail. USE IT!

Public comment pertaining to extra spicy issues that appear agenda may be held later on in the evening prior to a vote by the Council Members. If you have comments regarding an item on the agenda and you are not sure if public comment will be called at that time - just ask them during citizen participation at the beginning of the meeting.

  1. Register in advance to participate by Zoom. Quick links to registration pages:

  2. Show up to the Vail Town Council Chambers before the 6:00pm start to comment in person.

  3. Email your input for the public record to publicinput.vailtowncouncil@vailgov.com and CC: TownCouncil@vailgov.com before 12:00pm on Tuesday. Your emails will be part of the public record, but will not be read aloud at the meeting.
